This is a short 3 hour course for anyone looking to be able to provide First Aid in the family environment. There is NO exam and NO obligation to participate – If you just want to watch, that is fine, although practising will give you the best opportunity to learn.
Do you look after a child or baby whilst the parent(s) have to go out to work? In this day and age it is increasingly common for grandparents to act ‘in loco parentis’ whilst a single parent has to work, or both parents have to work. Would you know what to do if the child or baby started choking or fitting?
Do you have elderly relatives or a child heading to University or College or embarking on a round-the-world gap year. Is your son or daughter picking up pocket money babysitting? Do you want an extra skill to put onto your Curriculum Vitae?
This covers dealing with child and adult problems (from febrile convulsions to heart attacks and strokes amongst other things). It is a good general purpose First Aid course allowing any family member to deal with issues occurring with all family members
First aid is not difficult to learn or deliver and this course follows through from immediately life threatening conditions like cardiac arrest to less urgent problems like minor injuries. You never know when something could happen to someone in your family, so learning now will prepare you to deal with an emergency situation should it arise.
If this course is held at 4 Minutes Training Centre, a Free coffee, tea or squash is also included. Top-ups, bottled drinks and snacks are available to purchase, as are First Aid items such as First Aid kits, however there is no obligation to purchase anything.
Why not come along with a friend or two? Children and babies are welcome, but note that they are your responsibility, so please be considerate to other attendees should they get distracting or noisy. If you are breastfeeding, this will not be a problem. Do read our notes in the FAQ section.
Note that the room is on the first floor at the top of a staircase and there is no lift. It is, therefore not wheelchair friendly, but we can give you a hand with pushchairs.
Places are limited to 12 per class. You do not need to book, but we do recommend it to avoid disappointment. It’s also cheaper if Booked and paid for in advance (£40 on the day).
These classes run in our Maidenhead, Berkshire Office on the first Monday of the month 0930 – 1230 and can also be run at your own location. Contact us for more details.
