Training Royal Enfield Staff
Royal Enfield have been making Motorbikes since the end of the 19th Century. Named after the Royal Enfield Small Arms Factory in Enfield, Middlesex, their Technology Centre is now based at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Leicester.
Royal Enfield approached 4 Minutes to provide some training for its staff. Whilst it has appropriate Workplace First Aiders, a lot of the employees are bikers themselves and can find themselves in a remote situation with an injured biker. The Company wanted to equip the employees with suitable motorbike-specific training to give them the skills and confidence to deal with these scenarios.
4 Minutes put forward a Motorbike-led First Aid course that included specifics such as helmet removal and controlling catastrophic bleeding. We used an experienced Trainer, Aaron, who also rides and was able to add this experience to the course.
Training was at Royal Enfield’s site at Bruntingthorpe. It was a very frosty day which unfortunately put paid to any outdoor scenarios as the car park was more likely to create casualties despite Royal Enfield’s efforts to grit it.
We covered the essentials of First Aid such as CPR and then moved on to specifics such as helmet removal
Bandaging was covered, with some attendees getting a little carried away with their new found skills.
Feedback after the course was positive and the course was delivered in a relaxed way with minimal use of PowerPoint and as much ‘hands-on’ as Aaron could fit in. Many thanks to Royal Enfield for hosting and we look forward to the next cohort of students.
