This qualification is aimed at those who work in the outdoors close to roads or buildings.
All courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2013 and meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981 and subsequent 2016 changes.
This course is aligned with the Institute of Outdoor Learning’s Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid at Band 2
This 8 hour course is designed to provide First Aid training for those working in an outdoor environment but close to civilisation. If you need more advance skills and/or a 16 hour Outdoor qualification, do look at our 16 hour Outdoor First Aid course.
There are no prerequisite entry requirements for this qualification apart from a minimum of Level 2 written and spoken English
Prospective candidates are to be advised that they should have should have literacy and numeracy competency appropriate for the qualification
Students that pass will be awarded with a 4 Minutes 8 hour Outdoor Emergency First Aid Certificate valid for 3 years. Certificates are provided in PDF form to allow easy sharing and may be printed out for framing.
Emergency First Aid at Work qualification – optional
For those attendees working in an environment where there is a need to hold a Workplace First Aid Certificate, this can be incorporated into the syllabus and all attendees that need it will receive a Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate as well. There is an additional fee of £20 per student for this optional qualification.
This needs to be requested at time of booking to allow the qualification to be registered

All Certificates issued are in electronic (PDF) format. They will be sent to the person (or organisation) that organised the Booking in order for them to be distributed to the student(s).

Whilst we try and maintain a fixed cost for our courses, our prices may be subject to an additional fuel charge if your location is a distance away from our nearest trainer to you.
There is a £50 supplement per day if that day is a Sunday or Bank Holiday.

The core syllabus is as follows:-
Outdoor Emergency First Aid (also Outdoor First Aid Unit I)
Be able to assess an emergency situation in an Outdoor setting and prioritise what action to take
Be able to provide first aid to a child and an adult who is unresponsive in an outdoor setting
Be able to provide first aid to a child and an adult that is choking in an Outdoor setting
Be able to provide first aid to a child and an adult with external bleeding in an Outdoor setting
Be able to provide first aid to a child and an adult who is in shock in an Outdoor setting
Be able to provide first aid to a child and an adult who is experiencing the effects of extreme cold in an Outdoor setting
Be able to provide first aid to a child and an adult who has minor injuries an Outdoor setting
Be able to monitor a casualty whilst awaiting help in an Outdoor setting
Within the time constraints available we will endeavour to tailor the course and content to your Organisation’s needs.
Scenarios and practise will be outside where possible to add some realism to the course
Learners will be issued with a 4 Minutes “Outdoor Emergency First Aid (8 hour)” Certificate. It is valid for 3 years.
