What you will learn
Would you know what to do if your child was ill or had an accident?
Babies and children cannot be wrapped in cotton wool but you can have the skills to help them if they need it.
In just 2 hours, learn what to do in the vital minutes whilst you are waiting for the emergency services to arrive.
These necessary skills could save your baby or child’s life. The class covers baby and/or child first aid from birth to puberty (+/- 11 years old) and can include the following:
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Choking
- Recovery Position
- Burns and Scalds
- Meningitis
- Febrile Convulsions
- Bumps & Head Injuries
- plus lots more…
We run two versions:
Version 1 for parents-to-be / new parents. This includes baby and child First Aid
Version 2 for parents of children (1 year and above) where baby-specific first aid is no longer required
Babes in arms (under 1) are welcome at the classes and we are breastfeeding friendly.
Hygiene precautions:
We operate a 1 baby and 1 child manikin per ‘couple’ policy (e.g. parents, parent and grandparent etc. In this context a ‘couple’ can also mean an individual attending on their own) for up to 12 ‘couples’. Over and above 12 ‘couples’ there will be some sharing (we only have 12 sets of manikins) but we provide faceshields and alcohol-based manikin wipes to clean the manikin faces when you swap. In any case, practising mouth-to-mouth is recommended but absolutely not compulsory for anyone on these courses.
Other providers will make you share across couples. We prefer not to, even though it means we need a large vehicle and more cleaning for us…..
Training in your own home
Our 2 hour baby and child first aid courses are available at your home. This lets you have your own class at a time and venue that is convenient for you!
Why not invite friends and family too and share some nibbles at the same time? This course is for as many people that you can accommodate comfortably (we need some floor space to demo and for you to practice).
It costs £25.00 per person (subject to a minimum cost of £150) and the Organiser gets a free mini First Aid Kit and manual.
If 10 or more are Booked for the same date and time it is just £20 per person.
We have 12 manikins so if there are more than 12 there will be some sharing – see above.
